*****SCROLL DOWN FOR SAM MILLER’S BALLINA SELECTIONS*****

WARWICK FARM – WEDNESDAY, JUNE 28

By David Taggart

Rail Position: Rail out 5 meters from the 1000 to the WP, out 3 meters remainder.

Track Conditions: Soft 5

Track Comments: Better conditions for racing than the previous 4 weeks so it might throw up a few surprises.

Race 5, No 6 Roman Son

Has matured nicely this time in and put them away in a stride last start once he got through a narrow opening at the top of the straight at Newcastle. Still has a lot to learn about the caper but he keeps taking the next step. Is also aided by the golden hands of K. McEvoy

Race 6, No 1 Balmain Boy
Was never far from them in much stronger company before a little break where he needed the run on returning. Has got the advantage of a claim to compensate his big weight and is at very good each way odds of $11.

Hugh Bowman strikes 1 win every 5 rides here at Warwick Farm this season, he has a full book of 7 rides and is $2.50 for the jockey challenge.

Race 7, No 2 Cosmic Engine

Been a good go for Wallers’ in the last in an open race. Has been backed from $4.80 into $2.80.

Leg 1 (Race 4): 1,2,9
Leg 2 (Race 5): 6
Leg 3 (Race 6): 1,2,4,5,8
Leg 4 (Race 7): 1,2,4,5,12,14

$45 gets you 50%

Race 1

5-6-1-4  Drawn the outside but will push forward and should lead. Was just beaten by a handy one last start who placed last Saturday.

Race 2

1-2-4-5  Has had many chances to break through, but if he lives up to his early form he should get the job done.

Race 3

3-6-2-1  Second up today and she has competed in much harder races in the past than this.

Race 4

1-2-9-8  Blinkers go on again and is on a better surface. Hasn’t been far away of late and is knocking on the door for a win.

Race 5

6-3-5-1  Best bet see above

Race 6

1-8-4-5  Best value see above

Race 7

2-1-5-12  Can win again and the extra distant suits.

BALLINA – WEDNESDAY, JUNE 28

By SAM MILLER

Rail Position: True

Track Conditions: Heavy 9

Track Comments: The course which is cambered throughout the lap has a maximum distance of 1600m and a home straight that is 320m long. Plays fair even in wet.

Race 2, No 8 PAROO RIVER

Has been overlooked in the market with the heavily favored David Vandyke horse The Mechanic getting all the attention. Runner up two in a row before being a long way back on a heavy at Sunshine Coast last start. Right in this down in the weights and has the experience and barrier to get the job done $4.00

Race 5, No 1 SCHOPENHAUER

First-up last time finished 2nd 0.5L to the talented Zumikon at Grafton before failing, slowly away and wide against same horse. Was immediately given a break and if he can bring that same fresh form and tap into that ability he has which shows up sometimes $17.00 is definitely worth the risk.

David Vandyke

Quality trainer and has one of the best strike rates in Australia. When he brings 4 quality runners to a country track you pay attention. All very short but id be extremely surprised if he at least 2 don’t win.

Race 5, No 7 Royal Reciever

Freshened up and $3.70 into $2.20 with the Cahill/Vandyke team ticks all boxes for having a crack.

Leg 1 (Race 4): 1,3
Leg 2 (Race 5): 1,7
Leg 3 (Race 6): Field
Leg 4 (Race 7): 2,5

$50 gets you 70%
